It’s glorious that it’s finally Friday! Can I hear a TGIF from all you beautiful people?

I have a half marathon this weekend on Sunday morning and I am READY to conquer it! I am much more prepared for this than I was for my last half. 🙂 That’s a pleasant feeling and last night just confirmed that confident feeling.

It felt great to run, especially after two days of other kinds of workouts! I am INCREDIBLY sore (as in, limping, can barely move after sitting at a desk all day) and this run was just what my legs needed. I took one month off from circuits and other strength moves and my body is screaming NO as a reminder to never do that again. The pup needed some exercise too, so he was happy to accompany me. Although, I’m not sure this did him in – he came home ready to continue to play.

Um, no thanks pal, I’ve got to stretch and eat, but thanks. 🙂 Speaking of eating, my boyfriend made me a delicious and healthy dinner last night!

Three eggs omelet style with nothing in them topped with avocado and then a side of zucchini and onions sautéed up to taste like heaven. Simple, but delish. 🙂

Indeed it does. I can’t wait to enjoy it first thing Sunday morning, even if it is in the forecast to rain and storm all day. I hope you guys all have a fabulously wonderful weekend and if you’re also racing, cheers and good luck!

Do you have any questions for me? If they aren’t too scandalous, I’ll answer them in my responses. 🙂 Ask me whatever!

A Happy Place

I don’t want to jump the gun here and prematurely state my happiness with running lately – nor do I want to jinx myself, but really…. All of my runs over the past few weeks have been truly phenomenal. I feel like I’ve found a perfect rhythm and beat to my pace. I feel like my legs are happy with me and mind is happy with me. My fifteen mile run this past weekend was successful and I’m not feeling any sort of negative repercussions. That’s new and I’d like to keep it that way!

It’s nice that everything feels this way – my last marathon training it was much tougher for me to get through 10 miles than it is nowadays. I guess that’s the beauty of practice and cross training – something I didn’t really take seriously last time.

Running takes me to my happy place, and the weather has played a huge role in that lately. Thank you, Mother Nature. 🙂

I couldn’t have felt more exuberant and free on this run and I am so grateful to have running as my outlet in life. I could do without the pitch black night time finish, but I’ll take what I can get.

When I got home, my lovely roommate, you guys might know her, Rebekah, had baked ANOTHER batch of the muffins from her last post. They were THAT good. They received my seal of approval AND THEN SOME because they were amazing. That NEVER happens!

If I don’t stuff my face with all of them before tonight, they are to be served at a girl’s night we are hosting tonight! Here’s hoping I keep my mouth closed long enough for others to enjoy these! 🙂 (Mollie, Jax, Catherine, Drew, Ash, please send me encouraging texts all day to STAY AWAY til you guys come over!)

And this morning, because we are doing a cute little girl’s night tonight, Rebekah and I got out miserable morning selves to the gym for some fun. I chose the pool for some cross training while my bestie roomie girl focused on other forms of cardio that didn’t involve the pool.

It’s COLD when it’s this early! 🙂

If you guys lived here with us, you’d all be invited to ladies night tonight! Well, unless you’re of the male gender reading this – in which case, LADIES ONLY (yes I am still 12 and like girl night!).

What are you doing lately that makes you happy?

What’s your favorite baked good right now?

What are you doing this weekend?

Belligerence + Shenanigans + Love + Fun

All those things and more were included in my past few days of life. I didn’t get a chance to check in until this morning over here on this bloggy thingy because my life has been a whirlwind of LOVE.

On the fourth of July I ran a 10K (the biggest one in the nation) and it was so cool to watch some of the fastest people in the world finish around 28 minutes. INSANE. They don’t even look like they’re running. It was more like skimming the ground.

Very patriotic and the large crowds were a ton of fun.

That was followed by a lot of indulgence and some homemade pancakes from my roomie/bestie/co-bloggie! They are Paleo pancakes and they are the Yeah, that phrase was necessary.

This weekend kicked off my 25th birthday, so there were TONS of surprises that everyone in my life participated in scheming. 🙂 I am so incredibly lucky and I have some of the best friends/best boyfriend in the world.

I started it off with a 25 mile bike ride for my 25 years of life. Though it was raining, it was so peaceful and relaxing to just be out on some beautiful trails.

And when I got home later that night, Rebekah planned a huge surprise – SHE FLEW IN LESLEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! And Leslee’s boyfriend came too!!!! I won’t lie, I started to cry. It was cute. Or pathetic. Whichever viewpoint you’d like to take is fine with me.

I have a ton of fabulous photos from the obviously amazing weekend I shared with my friends so here is a photo dump with minimized chatter because words won’t come close to describing how truly wonderful and magical my birthday weekend was.

the gang at dinner

Initially, when planning my birthday, I wanted to run a 5K. Of course, with my luck, there were none this past weekend. So what did my friends do? They planned one FOR ME. Still a little worked up over the thoughtfulness of everyone. Good grief. Anyway, it was officially the Senator Sprint 5K, in honor of, duh, THE SENATOR! The lovely fan-glamorous SARA THE BEAUTIFUL at Fit.Fun.Femme joined as well – and the ‘sponsors’ were all the bloggers that were present, including my bestie – the FABULOUS MOLLIE HANNAH! 🙂

Senator Sprint

The Senator was truly honored to have a 5K named after him and solidified that excitement throughout the race. 🙂

Loving all the sweat. Truly indicative of that Georgia heat! And heyyyyy Leslee’s tongue! 🙂

And this just makes me LOL every time.

After a lot of cleaning up and some collecting of ourselves, we went out for another night full of surprises – dinner with allllllll my wonderful friends + salsa dancing lessons + club time. Amazing.

All I wanted for my birthday was fish n chips! WIN!

And, of course, red velvet cake that Rebekah brought me!! So wonderful.

Nadir and meeee

And Sunday was a sad day of goodbyes – but it was absolutely the most AMAZING birthday I have ever had. It was so fabulous to feel the love from everyone and I couldn’t believe how truly wonderful my bloggy besty and her man were! They were so gracious and it was everything I could have wanted it to be! This weekend was so hard to let go of as it was literally the best weekend of my entire life.

None of it would have been possible without each and every single one of my friends and my boyfriend and thinking about this weekend and everyone’s contributions only solidifies my undying love for the ones I care about in my life. The thoughtfulness, the planning, the attending – everything was just so much more than I could have dreamed. I’m forever grateful for everyone in my life. 🙂

I know I’m super behind, but how was your weekend?

What’s your favorite birthday memory? Do you like surprises? I don’t, normally, but this was the best surprise weekend ever. I mean, flying in a friend and my own 5K? And dinners out? And dancing? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

What’s your favorite cake? Red Velvet! FTW!

Short Week, YAY

Did you guys enjoy yesterday’s post from my co blogger? Yes, I still have one of those. 🙂 She’s the very best and though I joke, I’m so happy she’s back to her normal routine.

And speaking of routine, I had my normal one last night – visiting my friends in high places and working out.

We completed a cross fit style workout (my man’s favorite kind of workout!) and it looked like this:

I finished in a little under 14 minutes – and I think it’s because I used the smallest ‘box’ possible, while my two workout buddies used the larger sizes.

I’m not big on box jumps but they surely do the trick. I only get them when I visit my friend’s gym in her complex so I make sure to take full advantage. 🙂

Since I didn’t feel like 14 minutes was enough of a workout, I got in some mileage on the elliptical and treadmill and also added in some bicep curls (100!!). I’m trying to tone up my arms, I think. Also my abs? I planked for longer than I ever have before last night – 2:32! Woo!! 🙂

Seeing as how it’s a holiday tomorrow, (HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, AMERICA!!!!) I’d like to wish all of you a lovely day off, or not, if you’re working! I hope you get to see some fireworks (don’t worry, I had plenty of years spent in college working and missing fireworks) or enjoy the holiday in some form or fashion. I’m running the Peachtree Road Race 10K with some friends, my boyfriend, and the gorgeous Sara at Fit.Fun.Femme. It’s a mellow race, so I don’t intend on pushing myself. In fact, my goal is quite the opposite. 🙂

So Happy 4th of July to everyone and enjoy this extended holiday. I will not resume blogging til Monday but I’m sure I’ll be drunkenly posting pictures to my Instagram all weekend long. Enjoy!

What are you doing this weekend?

How are you celebrating the 4th? Do you celebrate the 4th?

Fireworks – yay or nay? I enjoy them, but I don’t enjoy how my dog reacts to them. 🙂
